I'm always happy to help you get a close idea of the final cost, however, I usually just work by the hour, plus the actual price of materials and supplies I purchase on your behalf. If you require an "absolute bid", I'm willing to do that for certain jobs, but generally, your cost will be less if you simply pay by the hour. A firm bid always includes a cushion for the unknown, which is often greater than actual costs. On-site consultations are always free!
· 1 Hour or Less: $60 minimum charge for any part of the first hour used.
· 1-2 Hours: $55 per hour for each hour, billed in ¼ hour increments. (Example: 1 ¼ hrs x $55 = $68.75)
· 2-3 Hours: $50 per hour for each hour, billed in ¼ hour increments. (Example: 2 ½ hrs x $50 = $125.00)
· More Than 3 Hours: $45 per hour for each hour, billed in ¼ hour increments.
Every project involves spending some time not billed for, including preparation, travel, talking with the customer, estimating, etc. The percentage of “unbilled” time is much higher on smaller jobs, so rather than increase to a higher rate for all jobs, I’ve chosen a variable scale. Consequently, by arranging to have all your small projects done at the same time, you can take advantage of the most affordable hourly rate.
Whenever possible, I'll want you to purchase the main materials directly, especially when you need to make choices regarding style, color, and quality vs. price. However, I'm happy to help with advice, arrangements with vendors, and delivery. I'm also happy to pick up the smaller supplies and materials that are needed to perform the work.
You pay for work only, which includes unloading and loading tools, and cleaning up the worksite after the project is complete. You will not be charged for estimating, talking, picking up supplies, or travel. If you need me to do several hours of shopping we may need to negotiate a fee, but usually, you will only be billed for time spent working on site.
All major credit cards, checks, or cash are accepted. For smaller jobs I can produce a bill on site if requested. Otherwise, payment is due within 30 days. For large jobs where you ask me to purchase expensive materials for you, a deposit may be required.
